About this Project

This project will develop compounds that shift lipid-mediator production away from pro-inflammatory mediators and towards specialised pro-resolving mediators. It will define the underlying enzyme pathways and investigate whether class-switching compounds act synergistically with omega-3 fatty acids and marine-derived bioactives.

Skills required

Background in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, biochemistry, chemistry or molecular medicine; experience with cell-based assays or analytical techniques is advantageous.

Skills acquired

Lipid-mediator biosynthesis, lipoxygenase biology, primary leukocyte assays, compound screening and optimisation, LC-MS/MS lipidomics, structure-activity analysis, computational lipid-network modelling and evaluation of omega-3-derived bioactives.

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates should ensure they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • have a MSc degree in Life Sciences or obtain a MSc degree by October 2026
  • have completed a research internship with relevant expertise
  • have obtained high grades during his/her studies
  • be fluent in English (some countries may also require language certifications – this will be communicated to applicants following shortlisting)
  • applicant must not have resided in the country of the recruiting organisation for more than 12 months preceding the recruitment date
