About this Project

Using data and biological samples from The Maastricht Study, this project will examine whether omega-3 fatty acids and specialised pro-resolving mediator pathways protect against inflammation and cardiovascular disease. It will determine whether these relationships differ in people with rheumatoid or other rheumatic diseases and whether they are modified by genetic variation.

Your profile and what you'll gain

Skills required

Background in epidemiology, biomedical sciences, nutrition, genetics, statistics or cardiovascular research; quantitative aptitude and interest in analysing complex human datasets.

Skills acquired

Population-based epidemiology, biostatistics, genetic association analysis, nutritional epidemiology, biomarker studies, lipid-mediator quantification, data visualisation and integration of human observational and mechanistic data.

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates should ensure they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • have a MSc degree in Life Sciences or obtain a MSc degree by October 2026
  • have completed a research internship with relevant expertise
  • have obtained high grades during his/her studies
  • be fluent in English (some countries may also require language certifications – this will be communicated to applicants following shortlisting)
  • applicant must not have resided in the country of the recruiting organisation for more than 12 months preceding the recruitment date
