About this Project

This project will determine how oxidative stress and cellular metabolism maintain the pathogenic activation of synovial fibroblasts. It will test whether redox-modulating compounds can reverse inflammatory priming and restore a pro-resolving tissue state. The project is likely to involve experimental disease models in mice. Previous experience with mouse work would therefore be advantageous, although it is not an essential eligibility criterion.

Your profile and what you'll gain

Skills required

Background in cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, redox biology or molecular medicine; experience with cell culture, biochemical assays or microscopy is desirable.

Skills acquired

Reactive-oxygen-species measurement, glutathione and NRF2 pathway analysis, mitochondrial metabolism, fibroblast biology, 2D and 3D tissue models, synovial organoids, GPCR signalling and secretome analysis.

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates should ensure they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • have a MSc degree in Life Sciences or obtain a MSc degree by October 2026
  • have completed a research internship with relevant expertise
  • have obtained high grades during his/her studies
  • be fluent in English (some countries may also require language certifications – this will be communicated to applicants following shortlisting)
  • applicant must not have resided in the country of the recruiting organisation for more than 12 months preceding the recruitment date
