About this Project

This revised project will investigate how specialised pro-resolving mediators regulate haematopoietic stem and progenitor-cell activity and influence the production of inflammatory versus reparative myeloid cells in rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular disease. It will identify disease-associated defects in bone-marrow resolution pathways and test whether selected mediators can restore balanced haematopoietic output and reduce systemic inflammation.

Skills required

Background in immunology, haematology, cell biology, pharmacology or molecular medicine; experience with flow cytometry, primary-cell culture or molecular biology; interest in bone-marrow biology, inflammation and lipid mediators.

Skills acquired

Isolation and phenotyping of haematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, multiparameter flow cytometry, colony-forming assays, bone-marrow and myeloid differentiation models, experimental rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular disease, specialised pro-resolving mediator pharmacology, transcriptomic profiling and development of translational biomarkers of altered haematopoiesis.

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates should ensure they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • have a MSc degree in Life Sciences or obtain a MSc degree by October 2026
  • have completed a research internship with relevant expertise
  • have obtained high grades during his/her studies
  • be fluent in English (some countries may also require language certifications – this will be communicated to applicants following shortlisting)
  • applicant must not have resided in the country of the recruiting organisation for more than 12 months preceding the recruitment date.
